Area & History
On top of Warden Hill, whose summit is 587 feet, there have existed an Iron Age fort, a Roman camp and a Medieval village.
Although you can still see the foundations of these on the ground, Camp top, as it is known, provides the most spectacular views up both the North and South Tyne valleys, over some of Tynedale’s most magnificent countryside, from the Pennines and Moorland to the west and Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder and the Cheviots to the North.
